Ep 05: Sweet Dream and Transforming Machines...When something doesn't work, make it work. Ep 05 takes the awkward sound effects from the last episode and makes fun of them, having Fred do a 1960s Batman spoof, which made me laugh my ass off. Apparently, there's a comic or cartoon called Samurai Pizza Cats (or something like that), who has a character that walks around going "Fre-ed. Fre-ed". I only know that because everyone who didn't get the Batman gag praised me for the reference I knew nothing about. The action sequences get a little more convincing in this episode, but they're still not great. Fred's fall was particularly hard to film. I think I'm holding his legs with my left hand and filming with my right, which explains the blurriness. Though the blurriness ended up adding to the effect, surprisingly enough. This episode marks the first and only time the Autobots ever find a use for Transforming (hey, that's one more time than in the cartoon). We don't see them Transform again too many times after this. This episode has one of my favorite titles. Whenever possible, I choose titles that spoof songs and, for anyone who didn't get it, this one comes from "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor. The actual lyrics are "Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the ground".
